HE achieved global stardom by the age of 13, beat Russell Crowe to a Bafta and mingles with the film world's glitterati - now North-East teenager Jamie Bell is tipped for multi-millionaire status.

Billingham-born Jamie Bell is forecast to be worth £30m by 2020, according to a list published today of talented young Brits predicted to earn a fortune.

The talented teenager achieved worldwide acclaim as a school boy, when he starred as a ballet-dancing miner's son in the box office smash Billy Elliot.

Now, with two other films under his belt, Nicholas Nickleby and the First World War horror movie Deathwatch, the 17-year-old is estimated to be one of tomorrow's top earners.

The list, compiled by Sunday Times Rich List author Philip Beresford, ranks him joint fifth in a top 20 list of under 21-year-olds to watch from the fields of business, sport and entertainment.

The report was commissioned by the Royal Bank of Scotland and is a prediction of those who, based on their current performance, will be sitting on a self-made fortune in 17 years. It does not include inherited wealth, meaning the likes of Prince William do not appear.

Everton footballer Wayne Rooney, 18, and actress Keira Knightley, who has starred in Bend it Like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbean, also make the list.

But in first place is 19-year-old Carl Churchill, who runs an Internet business that has just achieved a turnover of £1m.

He co-founded DMC Internet in July 2000 using £5,000 worth of savings and now has contracts with the NHS and Department for Education. The report predicts Mr Churchill could be worth £100m by 2020.
