An organisation spearheading regeneration work in a town is holding elections.
Nominations to the board of the Billingham Partnership, which must be submitted by September 19, are being particularly encouraged from sports groups.
Ten of the partnership board's 20 seats are chosen by local community and voluntary groups in elections organised by Billingham Community Network.
The other ten representatives are nominated by local business organisations and public service providers.
Anna Carruthers, co-ordinator of the network said: "We're particularly keen to encourage local sporting associations to get involved as they are currently under represented on the partnership board. They don't always think of themselves as such, but sports groups are very much part of the voluntary sector."
Information on the elections including registration and nomination forms can be obtained via the Billingham Partnership website at www.billinghampartnership. org.uk - or by contacting the office on (01642) 360150.
