A Tyneside firm is hoping to use its expertise to help rebuild the US power grid following the recent electricity blackouts.
VA Tech Transmission and Distribution is in talks with utility companies over ways in which power can be more reliably delivered.
Board chairman Klause Brenner said: "We have long lasting experience of the American electricity transmission system as we have carried out a number of contracts in North America over recent years."
