A staff nurse who downloaded thousands of Internet sex images of children is facing misconduct charges.
Lee Wright, 23, of Marmaduke Street, Spennymoor, County Durham, is due to appear before a Nursing and Midwifery Council Professional Conduct Committee hearing, in London, tomorrow.
Wright admitted 12 offences of making indecent photographs of children when he appeared before Sedgefield magistrates in August last year. He was arrested and charged after the UK authorities were given a tip-off by the American FBI.
When he appeared before a judge at Teesside Crown Court last October, Wright was sent on a sex offenders treatment programme and put on probation for two years.
His conviction led to him being dismissed from the University Hospital of North Durham.
Wright had only worked on an adult ward for two months when he was sacked.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council has the power to remove Wright from the nursing register.
