WINNING contracts with companies such as ICI has helped Brammer Industrial Services thrive in difficult market conditions.
The group, which operates as Brammer Services in the UK, is the country's biggest distributor of industrial engineering products with bases nationwide, including Newton Aycliffe, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Gateshead. The group saw revenues and profits rise by 12 per cent.
Ian Fraser, chief executive, said: "We are very pleased with the progress that BIS has made. We have managed to grow our business in a market we would guess has gone backwards."
Deals with ICI at 23 sites across Europe, including Teesside, have helped Brammer gain significant amounts of market share.
But, Mr Fraser admitted market difficulties were likely to continue. He said: "We do not see much happening in the second half of this year. I expect we will see some improvement in 2004.
