MORE than 15,000 people visited the fourth Garden Pride exhibition in Scarborough. The display, called The Borough in Bloom, showcased the gardening expertise that saw the council's parks and countryside services team win honours at this year's Great Yorkshire Show and Tatton Flower Show. Displays included 5,000 marigolds, 2,000 celosia and 2,000 begonias.

COMIC DATE: The first show in the season at the Other Side Comedy Club, in York, will feature Dan Antopolski, Josh Howie, Howard Spencer-Mosley and Dan Atkinson. The show will be held on Thursday, September 11, at 7.30pm, at the City Screen Basement Bar, Coney Street. RAILWAY MEETING: The next meeting for the Northallerton branch of the Wensleydale Railway takes place on Thursday, September 11, at the RAFA Club, from 7.30pm. Phil Kirkland will give a slide presentation, Railways Around the World.

CHARITY CONCERT: A concert of songs from the stage and screen is to be held at the Zetland Community Centre, Richmond, on Saturday, September 13, in aid of the chosen charities of the Mayor, Councillor Stuart Parsons. The concert begins at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5 for adults, £3 for concessions.
