INDIAN police have come to Cleveland this week to see how their colleagues do the job in England.
Superintendent Gupreet Singh-Toor, from the Punjab, spent time with ethnic minority liaison officer Brian Lindsay and community safety inspector Eric Robinson.
"It's been really useful," said Inspector Robinson.
"Gupreet is here as one of many Indian police officers around the country. The idea is to exchange information.
"Hopefully, they can learn something from us and we can learn something from them."
Insp Robinson added: "Gupreet has looked at our intelligence system in Middlesbrough and our community policing work in Stockton."
Insp Robinson said he and Supt Singh-Toor would join hundreds of British and Indian delegates at an Anglo-Indian police conference in Liverpool later in the week
