A GROUP of 80 delegates from museums as far away as Iceland and Estonia toured a North-East museum to pick up some tips yesterday.
The visitors are attending the European Open Air Museums Conference, which is being held in Glasgow, but took time out to travel more than 150 miles to visit Beamish Museum, near Chester-le-Street.
After being treated to an evening reception in the 1913 town at Beamish on Monday, the group were yesterday shown around the attraction. They were also given a tour of the Regional Resource Centre, at Beamish, which has a computerised photographic archive and storage facilities.
Beamish director Miriam Harte said: "It is a great honour that we have been included in the conference programme. The delegates are from some of the most prestigious open air museums and we are proud Beamish is held in such high regard throughout Europe."
