A motorist who was caught driving while disqualified for the 19th time was jailed for 12 months yesterday.
George Green, 44, from Middlesbrough, was caught driving near his home in June only three days after his latest disqualification, when he was given a suspended jail sentence.
He had 18 convictions for driving while disqualified since 1991 and had been jailed eight times, said Richard Parsell, prosecuting at Teesside Crown Court.
A police officer who knew Green was disqualified saw him driving a Vauxhall Nova near Green's home.
Green accepted he had an appalling record for driving while disqualified, said Shaun Dryden, defending.
He said he moved the car around the corner because it was causing an obstruction.
Green, of Lime Trees Close, High Clarence, Middlesbrough, was banned for another two years after he pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified on June 23.
He had been disqualified for two years at Teesside Crown Court on June 20 and given an eight months jail sentence suspended for two years after he pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified
The judge, Recorder Neil Davey, told him: "The time has come when there are no more chances to give and you will have to take the consequences."
