THE town of Northallerton is gearing up for a four-day arts festival later this month.
The Zest Fest will showcase the work of local amateur and professional artists and follows the success of a similar event last year. It features events which combine some old favourites with some new performances.
This year's theme is the celebration of local talent - including local societies, bands and visual artists.
Our Town Entertains brings together members of the Male Voice Choir, Alverton Singers, Allerton Players, Variety Company and Operatic Society for a variety show of songs, plays, sketches and music on September 24 and 25.
The Battle of the Bands returns on September 26, when local young bands will compete Pop Idol-style.
On September 27 John Otway returns with his Six of the Best show. Otway will be on stage with Attila the Stockbroker, Murray Lachlan Young, Joseph Porter, the Speechpainter and Philip Jeays in a show of folk, punk and performance poetry.
Tickets for any of the shows at the Hambleton Forum area available by calling (01609) 777070.
