PLANS to provide extra car and bus parking spaces at a school are likely to be approved despite objections from councils and residents.
The proposals for Easingwold School have twice been deferred by North Yorkshire Council Council's planning committee, giving hope to those that oppose them.
But now director of environmental services, Mike Moore, is recommending that councillors approve the plans, with a list of 12 conditions, when they meet next Tuesday.
The news will be met with disappointment from Hambleton District Council, Easingwold Town Council and the five local residents who raised concerns about the proposals.
Their fears centre on loss of recreation space for the youngsters, traffic congestion and conflict between buses, cars and pedestrians.
Similar plans to provide an additional bus and car parking area at Ripon College, in Clotherholme Road, are also recommended for approval next week.
Harrogate Borough Council has objected to the proposal, citing that the development could affect the residential amenity of a nearby property, which is occupied by the school caretaker.
