A GROUP of friends who have been playing football together since they were 11-years-old have formed a new team.
Goodfellas FC, the newest football team in Newton Aycliffe, date back to Greenfield Comprehensive School in the early Nineties
Joint-manager Mark Corry, who will be playing left wing, said: "Nearly all of the team are from Newton Aycliffe, a lot of us went to Greenfield and we've known each other since we were 11.
"We've been playing in five-a-side leagues and this is just a progression to give an 11-a-side team a go."
Dave Tarn, joint-manager, thought up the name Goodfellas because he is a fan of the Martin Scorcese film.
The team has a qualified coach, Adam Cattell, and has recruited enough players to make a squad.
Goodfellas, which will play its home games at Sunnydale Leisure Centre in Shildon, is sponsored by Triple T Engineering.
The team has entered The Northern Echo Darlington Sunday Invitation League
