GENEROUS shop workers have raised £300 for a Girl Guide troop.
A series of raffles and tombolas were held at the Woolworth's store, in Bishop Auckland, to raise money for sports equipment for the 2nd Bishop Auckland Guides group.
Guide leader Lynne Garfoot said: "We're really grateful. We managed to raise enough money ourselves for small items but a donation like this enables us to invest in bigger equipment such as a parachute for games, which will be good for current and future guides."
Irene Hodgson, the store's fundraising co-ordinator until her retirement last week, said: "We like to raise money for children in the community and know that the troop is always raising money for activities and equipment.
"We're pleased to help and hope the members enjoy the new equipment they get."
