Langbaurgh League: It is extremely tight at the top of the table with Broughton and Kirby and Kirby Sigston equal on points and with East Harlsey and Maltby still in the race.

Broughton and Kirby had 50 runs in hand of East Harlsey who are now third from top. Cook made a top-scoring 68 leading Broughton and Kirby to 159 for eight with Willey capturing four wickets for 65 runs in the East Harlsey attack.

When they went into bat East Harlsey had Broadley (33) in form, but even so a total of only 109 for seven was realised as Briddock took four wickets for 38 runs and Smith three for 55.

Kirby Sigston are level on points with Broughton and Kirby after they defeated fourth-placed Maltby by 56 runs. Faced with a target of 183 Maltby were pegged to 126 for nine as Cowton captured five wickets for 58 runs and Clarkson three for 23.

Man of the match was Thompson who carried his bat for 100 when Kirby Sigston batted first and ended with 182 for eight on the board. French had a good day with the ball for Maltby claiming four wickets for 31 runs and both Barber and Hutchinson took two wickets each.

Stafford Place defeated Skelton Castle by six wickets. Stainthorpe (40) and Pigg (42) led Skelton Castle to 149 for six, but Stafford Place overtook the total with six of their wickets remaining. O'Donahue (39) and Connor (50) gave the innings a perfect send off and the momentum was maintained by Metcalfe who carried his bat for 32 in a total of 150 for four. Three of the wickets were claimed by C Gratton at a cost of just eight runs when he was introduced as fifth change in the Skelton Castle attack.

Bottom of the table Swainby lost by three wickets to Chopgate who are just one place above them. When they batted first Swainby ended on 115 which included 35 by Hill. Stockton took four wickets for 30 runs and Vout three for 36 for Chopgate who replying managed a match winning 116 for seven which included 28 apiece by Holmes and McLean.

Kildale restricted Crathorne to just 59 as Sonley captured five wickets for 31 runs and Dan Doughty took four for 15.

When they batted first runs were more plentiful for Kildale, who ended with 177 for nine on the board. Sonley, later to star with the ball, also performed with the bat top scoring with 40. Howard Leng took four wickets for 61 runs and Andy Clemmitt had figures of three for 73 for Crathorne.
