Oxbridge Darlington and District League: Middleton St George are in a strong position to clinch the championship of Division A as they won for the 18th time in 19 games.
Their latest success came against Ingleton who they dismissed for just 49 in 20 overs as Dave McKenna took five wickets for a meager 11 runs in 10 overs, half of which were maidens and Anjit Hussain gave support with three for 20 in eight overs. Middleton St George then romped home without losing a wicket and no fewer than 37 of the total of 50 for none came from Steven Rodgers who his two sixes and four fours.
Rockliffe Park stay second but are well adrift of the leaders with only three games to play. Their hope of overtaking Middleton St George received a setback when they lost by 39 runs to third from top Haughton. Batting first Haughton ended with 160 for seven on top and no fewer than 100 of the total came from Bean, who remained unbeaten after going in at number three.
Replying Rockliffe were all out for 121 as Green captured three wickets for four runs and Edwards returned figures of three for 44.
Barton are third with their eyes on the runners-up position despite losing by 25 runs to bottom of the table Aldbrough St John. Faced with a target of 168 Barton were all out for 142 with Wood taking four wickets for 35 runs. Miller top scored with 43 and Peter Frankland added 39 in the Barton innings.
When they batted first Aldbrough St John made the useful total of 167 for six which included 84 not out by Priestley and for Barton Frankland took three wickets for 76 runs.
Witton-le-Wear lost by four wickets to Cockerton despite posting 169 all out which included 33 by Penfold, 42 from Bannister and 38 by Nelson. Leafe and Rawlings both took three wickets for Cockerton who went on to win by four wickets when Dale opened with 39, Farrow added 38 and Rawlings ended undefeated with 30.
Barningham ended with 168 for five before reducing Raby Castle to 103 all out. Newton (33), Lowes (47) and Mossford (38) led for Barningham and for Raby Castle Poole took three of the five wickets to go down for 36 runs.
When they replied Raby Castle struggled early on but 24 by Gill, batting at number ten, took the total into three figures before the innings closed on 103.
Mossford followed up his good performance with the bat by claiming four wickets for 29 runs.
Heighington defeat Cliffe by 78 runs. Wilson opened for Heighington scoring 61 and later there were useful contributions of 48 not out by Paylor and 34 from Waite. A total of 212 for five proved took big for Cliffe who dismissed for 134 including 77 by Hipkiss. Waite had a good day with the ball for Heighington ending with the superb figures of seven for 39.
Rockliffe Park lead Division B and their latest success came against Lands who they restricted to 125 for nine in 35 overs as James Edwards captured seven wickets for 59 runs in 18 overs, four of which were maidens. Opening batsmen Elstob top scored with 49 and although Rockcliffe Park conceded two early wickets when they replied, they were never in danger as Andy Raby carried his bat for 41 with five boundaries and Brian Elenor also remained unbeaten on 64 finding the boundary line on nine occasions.
Catterick Village are second and they had 80 runs to spare at home to East Cowton. Galey (47) and Lacey (31) were involved in a good stand for the second wicket and afterwards Oselton (48no) and Bolton (66no) also produced a surfeit of runs for the unbroken fourth wicket stand leading Catterick Village to 220 for three.
Replying East Cowton were all out for 140 which included 30 by Wilkin and 36 from Hancock.
Heighington had almost 100 runs in hand of Middleton Tyas after realising a healthy 197 for six which included 54 by Olney. Wilkinson captured four of the six wickets to fall for just 82 runs, but in reply Middleton Tyas were all out for 99 as Jameson returned figures of six for 54 and Jackson had two for 31 in the Heighington attack.
Dales overtook the Spennithorne and Harmby total of 142 losing just one wicket and Lawson was unlucky not to complete a century as he ended unbeaten on 99.
Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill won by 77 runs at Spennymoor where batting first they posted 165 for six. Gofton opened with 59 and both Hodgson and Carter added 21 while for Spennymoor Collingwood was in good form with the ball returning an analysis of four for 38.
Replying Spennymoor were dismissed for 88 with Coughtree enjoying the outstanding return of seven wickets for 27 runs while Carter gave support with three for 58.
Middleton-in-Teesdale made a respectable 170 all out but still lost by four wickets to Eryholme.
Lee-Shields and Watson both made half centuries for Middleton-in-Teesdale and at the end of the innings Coatesworth contributed 33 while for Eryholme Robson Jnr had four wickets for 26 runs and Lynn three for 44.
In Division C King James were all out for 41 when Brompton-on-Swale won by nine wickets. Nicholson had five wickets for nine runs and Leyburn four for eight in the Brompton attack.
Runs were more plentiful for Barningham in their match with Raby Castle. A total of 164 for six included 37 by Brown and 30 from Moore while Caygill captured three wickets for 53 runs for Raby Castle who in reply were all out for 121 of which Walker scored 37. Banks, with five for 43 and McLennan whose four wickets cost 43 runs, were the Barningham bowlers in form.
Aldbrough St John overtook the Barton total of 130 for six with three wickets in hand. Maddon top scored with 54 for Barton and for Aldbrough Skinner had three for 39.
A fine innings of 69 by Burgess led Haughton to a match winning 122 for eight at Lands whose total of 121 for eight included 31 by Little.
Cliffe had 30 runs to spare against Trimdon CCA reducing their opponents to 79 as Walton took four for 35 and Riley four for 37.
