Bass North Cleveland League: Loftus have won the championships of both the first and second divisions. The first team completed a successful season defeating Ormesby Hall to make it 16 wins in 18 games. They have drawn one and lost just one and with 413 points are well ahead of second placed Dormans.
Loftus totalled 285 for seven at Ormesby Hall before restricting the home side to just 160. Dixon opened the innings with 35, Sanderson added 38 but it was Barratt who stole the show when he contributed 100. Whitwell added a useful 35 and when Ormesby Hall replied man of the match Barratt claimed four wickets for 64 runs. Smithies gave support in the attack with four for 53 and although Qayyum scored 34 and Newson carried his bat for 35, Ormesby went down by 125 runs.
Dormans are runners-up and they signed off with a five wickets victory over The Merlin. Batting first The Merlin managed to total 110 with more than half the runs coming from opening batsman Caldwell with 56. Hadfield had figures of three for 26 and Holland three for 22 for Dormans who responded with 111 for five which included a top scoring 49 by Iqbal. Tweedy claimed three of the five wickets to fall for just 38 runs.
Although they made a respectable 159 for eight Paragonians lost by six wickets to Norton. Grantsfield opened the innings for Norton scoring 34 before Rickard added 73 to a total of 160 for four.
When they made first use of the wicket Paragonians conceded an early wicket, but Melrose with 45 and Skirving (31) put together a productive partnership for the second wicket and an unbeaten 29 later in the order enabled Paragonians to make the useful total even though Brooks captured four wickets for 54 runs in the Norton attack.
Broughton carried his bat for 106 and Ridley contributed 48 to the Brotton total of 203 for five at Normanby Parklands. Although Asif opened the Normanby reply scoring 44 the innings only produced a total of 132 as no fewer than ten bowlers were used in the Brotton attack, with Smith and Richardson both taking a couple of wickets.
No play was possible in the game between Hinderwell and Staithes because of heavy rain.
In division two Loftus end the season 11 points ahead of Boosbeck. They had a nine wickets victory over Ormesby Hall who were all out for just 19 as Pearson took four wickets for seven runs and Shaw four wickets for ten runs. Loftus, who have won 12 of their 18 matches, then secured victory losing just one wicket.
Boosbeck were all out for 99 but then dismissed third place Moorsholm for 35. Ward top scored with 31 for Boosbeck as Burton took six wickets for 52 runs, but in reply Moorsholm found Lorraines in outstanding form. The Boosbeck opening bowler claimed eight wickets for a mere 38 runs and Moorsholm went down by 14 runs.
Blacksmiths Arms had 107 runs to spare over Dormanstown after posting 220 for five before declaring. Prosser top performed making 81 and Sherwood added 38. When they went to the wicket Dormanstown were pegged to 113 for eight which included 32 by Lloyd who opened the innings. Hann had a good day with the ball for Blacksmiths Arms capturing three wickets for 34 runs.
Skelton Castle, who are bottom of the table, defeated Normanby Parklands by 42 runs. Griffiths scored 35 and with the assistance of no fewer than 42 extras Skelton Castle realised 166 for eight with Griffiths taking three for 28 in the Normanby Parklands attack.
When they replied Parklands were all out for 125 as McCabe took three wickets for 32 runs and Stubbs had an analysis of three for 33. Maroof top scored with 41 for Parklands.
Skelton Castle had the opportunity to move off the bottom since they play Dormanstown in the only fixture yet to be fulfilled
