Stanley Sunday League: Grange Villa WMC finally got their season underway and they did so with a comfortable 3-0 win over Felling Mulberry with a couple of the goals netted by Barry Ward and the other from Ian Pinchen.
South Moor Sports were at home to last season's runners up Pelton Fell and easily won 7-2. Michael Gray scored twice from the spot, Chris Youll grabbed a hat-trick and David Craig the other two while the Fell replied through Daniel Bankhead and Derek Willis.
Stanley Masons Arms SC were up against newcomers Gateshead Black Bull and found themselves two down at half-time.
However a great fight back got them level at 2-2 before the Bull grabbed the all important winner through Colin Janson. The Masons' goals were from substitutes Lee Pinder and David Welch, with the Black Bull's other two goals scored by Anthony Brewis and Craig Gardner.
Stanley RAFA played Pelton Crown Inn and managed what turned out to be a Richard Elliott consolation as the Crown ran out 4-1 winners.
Mark Lyall, David Cooper, John Sexton and Grant Nattrass were all on the mark for the Crown in a game that was marred by the sending off of a player from each side.
Newcomers Washington Oasis are having a torrid time, their latest setback a crushing 13-2 defeat by champions Stanley Royal. Mark Drake scored four times and there were hat-tricks for Allan Todd, David Turner and Kelvin Armstrong (3).

IT'S been a great start for Division Two champions Lanchester Social who are now riding high at the top of the First Division.
The village lads are still boasting a 100 per cent record after claiming maximum points from their opening four starts - the latest a 4-2 success at Kitswell Road against Blackhill Comrades.
Having strengthened during the close season, a win over the always fancied Comrades confirmed that the Social mean business and won with goals from Lee McVittie, Michael Pitt, Phil Raisbeck and Kevin Russell.
Stateside strikers Kevin Eglon and Thomas Bushby both netted twice as they hit Blackhall Mill for six. Darren Watson and Paul Jobes also scored with Darren Gribbin replying.
Promoted Stanley Central squeezed out an exciting 5-4 home win over Station Ex Juniors. Neil Costello scored twice along with Kevin Rainbow, Les Jackson and Steve Nixon. Manuel Rodrigues continued his purple patch in front of goal with two more for the Station and Anthony Hutton and Steve Eglon also netted.
An Alan Coxon double and Jamie Green goal keeps Oxhill Central two points clear at the top of Division Two after a 3-2 win over Shafto's with Craig Henderson and Stephen Hird replying.
Keith Penderell's solitary strike guided saw Steel Club to victory at the Bute Arms while Phil Wallace grabbed a hat-trick as the Top Club accounted for Annfield Plain Demi 6-2.
Barry Emery, David Dick and Colin Bell goals saw the Cricketers to a 3-2 home win over Highwayman while a David Jennings goal for Burton House was cancelled out by the Black Horse's Martin McKinney.
The Plainsman came from behind then went ahead before finally settling for a 2-2 home draw with neighbours the Smith Arms. Carl Gerry and David Newstead scored for the Plainsman with Tony Curry's double sealing the Smith's point.
It was 2-2 also in Division Three between Delves and Burnhope while both James Herron and Craig Nicholson scored hat-tricks in Hat & Feather's 12-1 romp over Cronniwell.
Scot Revel grabbed a 3-2 winner for Burgoynes at the Scotch Arms as did a Graham Muirhead penalty as Medomsley Miners edged out the Duke by the odd goal in three while Ball Alley beat Freemasons 4-2.
