GRASS track racer Kevin Bowes has stormed to success with the help of solid support from North Yorkshire engineering and design firm Malton Laser.
The 35-year-old technician from Brompton on Swale, near Richmond, scooped the class 3 and championship races at this year's Cumbrian Open and Southern Ireland's fastest person on grass event.
He swept to victory in a Peugeot 205, which he extensively modified using components cut and supplied by Malton Laser.
Bowes, who works as a mechanical projects team leader for Richmond Foods, said: "I've known Charles Corner, the managing director at Malton Laser, for years. As a former bike racer himself, I think he understands my love of grass track racing and he has been generous enough to donate steel components for my car for more than two years now."
Mr Corner said: "I raced superbikes for many years so I understand just what drives Kevin. He's been grass track racing since he was just 14 - that's dedication for you!"
A keen auto mechanic as well as racer, Bowes has modified his Peugeot so extensively that the metal body is the only remaining original feature. He has been racing the car for six years and is a member of the Yorkshire Dales Autograss Club based near Scorton.
His wife, Caroline, also races his Peugeot and gained fifth place in this year's ladies national championships at Hereford as well as the ladies fastest person on grass title in Southern Ireland.
Their son Dean, 14, and daughter Bryoni, 12, both race standard minis in the junior class
