Stepy's Coaches Durham Sunday League: Last Sunday all teams were on Cup Duty in the KJM Embroidery League Cup first round.

As per usual there were some shocks with Houghton Glendale from the Premier League sensationally beaten 3-2 by Second Division Houghton Mill All Stars.

The Glendale were last season's Durham FA County Sunday Cup winners and winners of The Team of the Season.

Pacey forward Clint Mysleyko opened the scoring for The Mill on 25 mins following a great run into Glendale's penalty area by centre forward Steve Fenn. Glendale equalised with a penalty on 40 mins only for Graham Stoker to put Mill 2-1 ahead immediately from the restart.

Steve Fenn made it 3-1 midway through the second half. The Mill's defence then came under intense pressure from Glendale's forwards but they held on until deep into injury time when Glendale netted a second penalty to make it 3-2.

This was an excellent team performance and a major scalp for The Mill who were well worth their victory.

With one of the quickest goals ever scored, Fourth Division Durham Pot & Glass took the lead within ten seconds of the kick off against Washington Arms with a Stephen Dobson goal. However, Third Division Washington Arms proved to be too strong as home keeper Stephen Doran was dismissed and with goals from David Roll, Lee Jones, David Lyall and John Wilson comfortably won the match 4-1.

Sherburn Lambton Arms were easy 5-0 winners over visitors Witton Gilbert Glenddening Arms thanks to a hat-trick from Tony Simpson and one each for Andy Coulthard and Mark Wild.

Belmont Wmc found Newton Aycliffe Wmc too strong as they crashed to a 7-1 home defeat. Durham Bede Lodge progressed to the next round thanks to a fine win at Waterhouses. Nick Barker hit a hat-trick and two from Marc McKenzie.

Top scorers on the day were the Jovial Monk from Newton Hall beating visitors Witton Gilbert White Tunn 11-2. John Killgahon was top marksman with three followed by a brace each for Juan Dominguez and John Gott, and solo efforts from Phil Smith, Chris Taylor, and subs Miles Brown and Gary Bank adding one each.

Durham Coach and Eight were 3-2 home winners over the Chilton Lodge.

Premiership side Brandon United were easy home winners over Pittington. One each for Trevor Ball, Dean Burns, Gave Bell, Tony Hanson and John Harrison.

Holders of the Cup, Premier side Fatfield North Biddick, travelled to Langley Park Sports and Social who play in the Fifth Division. The Premier side were too strong for Langley as the visitors were 5-1 winners, Dave Fittes hitting a hat-trick, John Rowell and Andy Nixon adding further goals.

The draw produced a local derby: Ushaw Moor Cricket Club entertaining near neighbours Bearpark wmc. Bearpark's class showed as they recorded a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Shaun Davis and two from Mark Welsh.

In the all-Premiership clash Chester Garden Farm suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat from visitors Fishburn wmc for whom Chris Barber hit four, Peter Horan and John Barber adding further goals.

Newcomers in the League, West Rainton Greyhound found the going tough as they were soundly beaten by visitors Hetton Lyons Cricket Club 9-1. Hetton's Jason Ainsley last season's Player of the Year winning the man of the match award.

In another all-Premiership clash visitors Spennymoor Quinn's were 2-1 winners at Pelton Roab thanks to strikes from Jon Tallentire and Neil Morgan.

Brandon Sports were at home to League newcomers Birtley Coach and Horses. Despite having Paul Allinson sent off, the more experienced home side were eventual 5-2 winners thanks to top man Andrew Johnson hitting four, Mathew Keogan adding the fifth.

Premiership side Sacriston Wmc were soundly beaten at First Division side Chilton wmc 7-1. Langley Park wmc crashed to a 4-0 defeat at Lumley wmc.

Two goals from John Richardson, a well taken penalty by Lee Jarvis and a solo effort from Gary Hall gave Hetton New Inn a hard-fought 4-3 win at Esh Winning Cricket Club. New Herrington wmc had sub Darren Reed sent off but two well-taken goals from Andy Ridley put them into the next round at the expense of hosts Houghton Comrades.

Sunderland Lakeside Social were 7-2 winners at Witton Gilbert wmc and Esh Winning McKenna's were 6-2 winners at Ferryhill Wmc.

Two goals from Paul Carr and one from Peter Guarnaccio was enough for Bowburn Hare and Greyhound to return from Lumley Snooker Club 3-1 winners. Byers Green wmc were 3-0 winners over visitors Coxhoe wmc. Washington Lambton Village crashed to a 10-0 defeat at Sedgefield st Edmunds, Dave Hewson the man who cannot stop scoring, added a further four for Ouston Red Lion as they progressed into the next round with a 6-1 win over Fatfeild Biddick Inn, Dave Purdy and Simon Thwaittes adding the other two. Burnmoor Dunn Cow were 5-0 home winners over Kelloe wmc.
