TOWN councillors will visit an allotment before deciding if it can be sold to its long-term tenant.
Spennymoor Town Council's allotment committee, which met on Tuesday, agreed to make a site visit to Tudhoe Village allotment.
Christopher Bewley, who has cared for the site for more than ten years, wants to buy the plot and continue to use it as a garden.
Councillor John Marr said he was concerned about the prospect of selling council land but members agreed the plot was unlike other allotments because it stands alone and agreed to a site visit.
