POLICE raids in north-west Durham have been hailed a success.
Derwentside police has staged a week of action targeting known criminals, with officers executing eight search warrants
A raid yesterday in Consett yielded 30 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of £3,000, and a small amount of cannabis. Officers arrested a man from the Consett area on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.
A raid yesterday in Annfield Plain, near Stanley, turned up a stolen BMW that had been chopped up for parts and stolen plant equipment.
The raids were co-ordinated by Acting Superintendent Andy Summerbell and involved Bud the sniffer dog and his handler, PC Tony Drummond, the beat support unit, and Derwentside's Divisional Response Unit (DRU).
DRU Detective Constable Helen Johnston said: "We have had an excellent week."
Warrants earlier in the week, in South Stanley, Langley Park and Delves Lane, turned up 200 grams of cannabis, two stolen bikes and a stolen moped. Four arrested people were released on police bail.
