A SOLDIER from Stockton is back on home ground from Monday to tell others about life in the regiment.

Private Christopher Collitor, 19, a former pupil at Blakeston Community School, is based with the 1st Battalion The Green Howards at Ballykelly, in Northern Ireland.

The teenager joined the Army in 2000 and has served and trained with The Green Howards in Germany, France, Belgium and Holland.

He is a keen footballer and enjoys gym training.

Pte Collitor will be on the streets of Stockton and the surrounding area next week when he and his colleagues will talk about The Green Howards to young men interested in an Army career.

The Green Howards' recruiting caravan will back them up and will be placed in strategic parts of the area.

Anyone who wants to find out more about Army life is welcome to call at the caravan for more information.

Next January, The Green Howards move from Northern Ireland to a new base at Chepstow on the Welsh border.

From there, they will train for jungle warfare, including extended periods in Belize, to equip them for rapid deployment to jungle areas anywhere in the world.

Captain Steve Mincher, who heads The Green Howards regimental recruiting team, said: "Our lads are keen to get out on the streets to let others know about life in The Green Howards, and they are looking forward to telling them what life in the infantry has to offer."
