THE inquest into the deaths of ten people who died in the Selby train crash starts today.
West Yorkshire coroner David Hinchliff will oversee the five-day hearing at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.
The crash, at Great Heck, near Selby, happened in 2001 but the inquest has been delayed, partly for the trial of Land Rover driver Gary Hart.
Hart, 37, was jailed for five years after being convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.
The jury heard he fell asleep at the wheel before veering off the M62 and on to the East Coast Mainline.
Hart's Land Rover was hit by a passenger train which ploughed into a freight train.
Among those who died were passenger train driver John Weddle, 47, and chef Paul Taylor, 42, both from Newcastle, Teesside University professor Steve Baldwin, 44, and York man Barry Needham 42.
