TWO people were seriously injured when the motorcycle they were riding was involved in an accident with a van.
The driver of a Yamaha motorbike, a 30-year-old man, suffered multiple fractures including broken wrists, and serious chest and head injuries.
He was taken to North Tees General Hospital and was said to be in a critical condition.
The passenger, a 30-year-old woman, suffered severe head and pelvic injuries and was treated at the James Cook University Hospital, where her condition was serious but not life-threatening.
The pair, from Billingham, Teesside, were travelling north east along the A689 when the bike was involved in the accident with a Ford Transit van near Stockton Road.
Witnesses to the accident, which happened at 8.40pm on Friday, are asked to call 0191-375 2159.
