An inquest into the deaths of 10 people in the Selby rail crash was due to begin today.
Six passengers and four railway staff died in the incident at the village of Great Heck, near Selby, North Yorkshire, on February 28, 2001.
The inquest was being held by West Yorkshire Coroner, David Hinchliff, at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate and was expected to last five days.
The incident happened when a southbound GNER express train travelling at 117mph struck a Land Rover which had plunged off the M62 and on to the East Coast mainline.
The derailed train was then in collision with a fully-laden coal train carrying 1,600 tonnes of coal.
Gary Hart, of Strubby, Lincolnshire, was jailed for five years in January 2002 after he was convicted of 10 counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
The 10 men who died were Steve Baldwin, Steve Dunn, Alan Ensor, Barry Needham, Ray Robson, Rob Shakespeare, Paul Taylor, Christopher Terry, Clive Vidgen and John Weddle.
