POLICE are appealing for information about two burglaries from clothes shops in Bishop Auckland town centre.
A large amount of women's clothing was stolen from Marks and Spencer, in Newgate Street, on Saturday night.
Garments were also taken from the New Look store, in the Newgate Centre, which was raided early yesterday morning.
Officers believe at least two people are responsible the raids.
Detective Constable Darren Phillips, of Bishop Auckland CID, said: "We are certain the incidents are connected and would ask people to contact us with any information.
"People socialising in the town may have seen something on the Saturday night, when we believe those responsible made their way along Durham Road.
"Also if anyone has been offered, or has purchased, items of ladies clothing which may be stolen we would ask them to get in touch."
Witnesses or anyone who thinks they may have seen something suspicious is urged to call Bishop Auckland police station on (01388) 603566.
