AN ARGUMENT between two brothers sparked a rescue search after fears one could have been suicidal.
The two men, in their late thirties, from Brotton, ran to the top of Huntcliffe, in Saltburn, during the argument in the early hours of Monday.
One of the brothers fell down and broke his ankle and became concerned for his sibling who had disappeared and who he believed was suicidal.
The injured man was unable to contact his brother's mobile phone so he phoned for emergency assistance.
At 4am, a police plane with thermal imaging equipment and Skinningrove and Redcar coastguards were called to search for the missing man in a two-hour operation. He was later found safe and well at home.
Auxilliary Coastguard, Paul Waugh, said: "The brother with a broken ankle was taken to hospital."
