A VOLUNTEER worker with the County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted is hoping to raise more funds by taking part in the Great North Run.
Peter Sedgewick, already devotes much of his spare time to visiting blind people in their homes and is a volunteer representative on the group's management committee.
The society relies upon helpers to provide its home visiting service and driver escort scheme to people who are registered blind or partially-sighted.
Volunteer co-ordinator Sue Hayles said: "Our work with people suffering from visual impairment is dependant upon the dedication of volunteers like Peter.
"We are delighted that Peter has offered to help with our bid to raise much needed funds and we are very grateful for his commitment to the work of the society.
Anyone who would like to help the society or to sponsor Mr Sedgewick in the half marathon should call 0191-386 8175.
