SMALL and medium-sized food businesses can take advantage of a subsidised programme of courses at the University of Teesside from this month.
The University's Food Technology centre is repeating the subsidised courses, designed for the food and drink industry.
Government funding and European grants have been secured to offer the courses at heavily discounted rates.
The programme includes basic food hygiene, which is free of charge for a limited period, intermediate and advanced food hygiene, and basic health and safety.
Industry representatives have welcomed the availability of the courses.
The centre also plans to expand its programme throughout next year with the addition of courses including nutrition and health, first aid and auditing.
