BUS strikes that caused disruption to scores of passengers in a city centre ended yesterday after a pay deal was agreed by drivers.
The drivers voted to accept a revised pay offer from management and bring an end to the industrial action that had halted most First services in York.
A total of 121 drivers voted in favour of the new two-year offer in a secret ballot on Monday, which will pay them £7.20 an hour for a reduced 37-hour week.
First commercial director Peter Edwards was delighted with the vote.
He said: "It will mean the end of the strikes and allow everything to get back to normal."
The deal will come into operation in November.
