Doncaster Rovers' first visit to the Reynolds Arena on Saturday "can't come soon enough" for Darlington's players, according to manager Mick Tait.
Quakers, fresh from their weekend win over Carlisle, host the Division Three newcomers with renewed optimism following only their second League victory of the season.
And while Tait remains cautious and refuses to get carried away, he admitted Saturday's win has done his players the world of good.
"The lads are feeling a lot better about themselves this week and the next game can't come soon enough," said Tait. "It was vital we got a result against Carlisle.
"The fact that we performed well was a bonus because the most important thing was that we got a result."
Rovers returned to the Football League this season after a five-year absence and have made an encouraging start, having suffered just one defeat.
The South Yorkshire outfit will no doubt provide a sterner test for Tait's men, who will be hoping to build on Saturday's morale booster.
"We couldn't afford to lose against Carlisle and hopefully we can continue with a win this Saturday," said Tait.
The Quakers boss has winger Neil Wainwright back in contention after he came through yesterday's reserve win at Notts County unscathed.
The 25-year-old has made just one appearance this season following a groin injury. However, Wainwright looks set to return to the fold after playing 70 minutes in the 1-0 win.
Australian Russell Waller was also involved, playing the last 20 minutes, in his latest comeback following a career-threatening knee ligament injury.
Striker Glen Robson staked his claim with the only goal of the game for a strong Quakers side which included former Middlesbrough midfielder Keith O'Halloran.
The 26-year-old was released by Swindon at the end of last season after failing to prove his fitness following a broken leg.
And now Tait may be ready to hand O'Halloran a lifeline with a return to the North-East, where he spent three years with Boro before a £50,000 transfer to Scottish Premier League outfit St Johnstone in 1997.
Darlington Reserves: Price, Artun, Bossy, Mason, Wainwright, Maddison, Convery, O'Halloran, Clark, Sheeran, Robson. Subs: Mellanby, Waller, Coghlan, Smith, Bond
