Police officers from the North East have travelled to New York to mark the second anniversary of the World Trade Centre terrorist attacks.
Northumbria Police said constables Roy Davies from Washington, Karen Turnbull from Newcastle and Don McLean from South East Northumberland have made the six-day trip in their own time, using their own money.
PC Davies, who attended the event last year, said: ''I am sure all officers have a feeling of solidarity for our colleagues in New York who lost their lives.''
