The funeral of a military policeman from Darlington killed with two comrades in an ambush in Iraq is set to take place.
Warrant Officer Colin Wall, 34, from Middleton One Row, was serving in Basra with 19 Mechanised Brigade when he was killed.
He was with Major Matthew Titchener and Corporal Dewi Pritchard when their vehicle came under attack.
WO Wall and Major Titchener, from Southport, were both based at Catterick in North Yorkshire. Cpl Pritchard was a Territorial Army soldier from Bridgend, south Wales.
WO Wall's funeral is being held at St. Thomas' Church in Stanhope, County Durham at 1pm.
Following the church service there was to be a service of committal at Durham Crematorium in Durham City.
The soldier lived with his wife Patricia and their baby son and he had two children from a previous marriage.
Neighbour Doris Jones described WO Wall as an ''all round nice guy'' who would ''do anything for anyone'' and as a ''splendid family man''.
