A SERIES of free lectures by playwrights, politicians and professors will be held at York University this term.
The autumn programme starts on Monday, October 6, with a public lecture by Professor Richard Dawkins, author of the best-selling book on evolution, The Selfish Gene.
Home Secretary David Blunkett will talk about multi-faith Britain on Thursday, October 30, and the BBC's Pride and Prejudice screenwriter Andrew Davies will also give a talk that day.
A series of history lectures will be delivered to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth I and will explore religion, the darker side of the end of Elizabeth's reign, and Elizabethan life in York and Yorkshire.
The lectures are open to the public and admission is free.
