DOREEN Cummings has become the first woman to win Trimdon Labour Club Leek Show with an exhibit measuring just over 203 cubic inches. Her husband, Jack, was third, behind Barry Anderson Junior.
Mrs Cummings also became the first winner of the Derek Butler Memorial Trophy for her exhibit of five chrysanthemums.
Mr Butler, show secretary for many years, died just before Christmas and the trophy was inaugurated in his memory to be awarded to the best exhibit in the show.
Mrs Cummings also took prizes for best exhibit in flowers.
Club treasurer Dennis Grimley took the prize for best leek in show. Other winners included Francis Metcalfe, for most post points in show and flowers, and Keith Sirrel for most points and best exhibit in vegetables.
