TALKS are taking place which could bring vital defence work to manufacturing firms across the North-East and North Yorkshire.
Northern Defence Industries (NDI), the cluster of about 170 defence and aerospace companies in the region, is talking to US firm Raytheon which could lead to extra work.
NDI is already a partner in the Javelin light anti-armour missile programme but Raytheon is seeking further discussions about increasing the scope of its supply chain arrangements.
That could mean extra work coming to this area.
NDI has been taking part in the Defence Systems and Equipment International exhibition in London this week.
It is one of the largest and most influential events in the international defence calendar.
David Bowles, NDI chief executive, said: "We are here to tackle some of the 950 companies exhibiting, and to renew relationships with those we already know. On the first day we have already demonstrated to our members the value of this policy."
