SPLENDID stands of huge leeks and a dazzling array of flowers were judged at an annual show at Beamish Museum.
Produce on show at the 2003 Beamish Leek Show at the weekend was the culmination of a year's work of 16 members of the Shield Row Allotment Association.
The event was sponsored by the museum and Fentimans, the North-East brewer of botanically-brewed beverages. Norman Telford had the best leek on show and won the most prizes, including four cups, a shield and a cut glass bowl.
Harry Cummings won the bowl of flowers category, while Tommy Hodgson won the most overall points.
