Thornaby Mandale 2 Ennis Square 3: Ennis Square took top spot in midweek thanks to a last gasp winner from Steve Gent.
Bradley Murray had given Mandale the lead when he latched on to a through ball from Steve Lambert and although Gent levelled with a flick header following a free kick, the league champions were soon back in front when Lee O' Toole fired home. John Kirk levelled with fifteen minutes remaining when he rose to head home Paul Smith's cross and the game looked to be heading for the sides to share the points when Gent lobbed the keeper for an injury time winner.
Middlesbrough PO 7 Coulby N'm 2
Three wins in six days kept Middlesbrough Post Office in second spot. They followed up wins over South Bank United and British Steel Sports in midweek with a comfortable win over Coulby Newham although it was not until early in the second half that they took control of the game.
Posties raced into a three goal lead with John Simon hitting a hat-trick.
Late in the half however, Coulby hit back with Michael Gillings and Craig Thomas both finding the back of the net and they might well have gone in level had a well struck shot from Thomas not been deflected just wide of the post. Coulby started the second half in similar vein but they were put on the back foot once again when Jamie Duffy and John Leach put Post Office back in the driving seat. Chris Chambers then beat two men before setting up Simon for his fourth of the game and John Cramer wrapped up the scoring when he beat the keeper to the ball.
Stokesley SC 2 South Bank United 1
Two breakaway goals from Michael Bulmer gave Stokesley the edge at half time and although Mark Renton pulled a goal back for United, a resolute Stokesley defence held firm till the final whistle.
N Skelton Vill 1 Thornaby Mandale 5
Thornaby Mandale returned to winning ways with Steve Lambert leading the way with four goals.
Lambert raced on to a long through ball for his opening goal in the fifth minute and that was the start of a run of goals that saw him hit is hat trick on the half hour and adding a fourth goal for good measure shortly before half time. Andrew Dyson added a fifth for Mandale in the second period with North Skelton Village's only reply coming late in the match when Chris Dixon's shot ended up in the back of the net.
St. Mary's College OB 3 Linx Hemlington 2
Linx Hemlington lost their unbeaten record when they came up against a St. Mary's College side that were determined to maintain their promising start to the season.
The College had the better of the opening exchanges and took a deserved first half lead when Wally Kade made no mistake from the penalty spot. Kade added a second early in the second period before Mark Salvati reduced the arrears for Linx firing home from 15 yards out.
Kade restored the College's two goal advantage but a late penalty conversion from Peter King had St. Mary's defending their narrow lead.
PJS FC 1 King's Head 3
King's Head followed up their midweek win over Thornaby Village with another success over a PJS side still looking for their first win of the season. Michael Jones squared the ball for Paul Round to put the King's Head in front on 15 minutes but it was not until the second half that they increased their lead when Sam Johnson's left foot volley from the edge of the area found the back of the net. PJS pulled a goal back and for a while looked as though they might take something from the game but 15 minutes from time, Round was on the mark again to make certain of the three points.
South Park R 4 British St Sports 0
Two first half goals from Graham Watson together with the third from Michael Clark saw Rangers well in control at the interval. They continued to keep the pressure in the second half but the only reward for their efforts was when Watson rounded off his hat trick.
Thornaby Village 8 Black Horse 3
Black Horse took most of last season to secure their first win but success came much sooner this season when they ran out 5-4 winners over South Park Rangers in midweek. Sadly, they could not maintain the heights of Monday night ending up the wrong side of an 8-3 defeat that saw Thornaby Village taking their first three pointer of the new season. Dean Melville led the scoring with five goals to his credit while Paul Bennison (2) and Gareth Evans added their names to the scoresheet. The Black Horse's reply came courtesy of Kirk Harrison who hit two goals before completing his hat trick with a last minute penalty.
