DOZENS of worried workers are waiting to find out if their jobs are under threat, after plans were leaked to close a nursing home.
Management at Summerdale, a residential home for the elderly, in Snows Green Road, Shotley Bridge, admitted this week that the privately-run site is to close 'in the near future.'
Owner Teresa Langdon would not give a firm date for the closure or say why the home is to shut its doors.
She said full details of the closure would be revealed next week, after all the residents and their families had been fully informed.
Run by Shotley Park Homes for the Elderly, the large Victorian building has capacity for up to 35 residents and employs staff on almost a one-to-one basis to care for them.
It also has physiotherapy facilities and its own GP.
Staff refused to comment, saying they had been told not to talk to the press by bosses.
