Willington Boys under-16s played an exciting 5-5 draw away to Plains Farm in the opening game of their Russell Foster junior soccer league campaign.
After taking all six points from Plains Farm last season, Willington found the opposition a much stronger side who were first into the lead.
Willington pulled back to level no fewer than four times during the game before going ahead themselves at 5-4 with just five minutes to go.
The home side then grabbed a last minute equaliser with a long range effort.
Nick Hayton (2), Daniel Kent, Jonathan Foster and MoM Lee Tinkler got the goals for Willington.
Willington under-11s also had to share the points in their first game, drawing 3-3 with FC Stannington. The Willington goals came from MoM Jordan Roberts (2) and Matthew Cooper.
The Willington under-15s opened their account in the premier division with a 2-0 victory away to Parkside thanks to first half goals from man of the match Joe Fairish and Harry Drummond.
