THE BRITISH Pig Association show and sale at Ross and Wye proved a huge success last weekend.
The total value of pigs sold through the ring was up 33pc on last year and the average price rose 20pc. The top price, 700gns, was almost double last year's (360gns) and the average broke the £200 barrier.
A pedigree Berkshire gilt, Stonebow 42, in-pig to Wedlock Lassetter, a Berkshire boar line imported from Australia in the Eighties, made the 700gns.
Aucioneers: Norton and Brooksbank.
