Rob Campbell, 37, is the new headteacher of the 1,489-pupil Laurence Jackson School (LJS), in Guisborough.
He has come to the area from Witchford Village College, in Cambridgeshire, where he was deputy headteacher for three years.
Mr Campbell said: "I am honoured and delighted to be succeeding Chris Lord as the next headteacher of LJS. This is clearly a school that has achieved so much and has the capacity to improve and grown even further.
"I am very much looking forward to working with our partners to reach the highest standards for the benefit of all students and the wider community that we serve."
Mr Campbell's interests include research into learning and leadership,reading, music, running and orienteering.
