The 13th horticultural show in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre is being held on Sunday, September 21, in Thornton-le-Beans village hall.
Classes to be judged included vegetables, flowers, cookery and handicrafts. The show is a fun event and all exhibits will be auctioned off. The show opens at 9am and judging starts at 10.30am. For more information contact John Sissons on (01845) 522158.
FUN RUN: The 14th annual Snape 10k and 5k Fun Runs are taking place on Saturday, October 4, and entries are now being taken. Both runs start in Snape at 11am and take participants across the surrounding countryside before returning to the village. Home made lunches and refreshments will be available before trophies are presented to the winners. Entry is £3 for the 10k run and £2.50 for the 5k. AUTUMN FAIR: Visitors will be able to browse around stalls selling home-made cakes, crafts and plants this weekend at the annual Autumn Market and Craft Fair at Middleton-on-the-Wolds village hall. The event opens at 10.30am on Saturday and closes at 4pm. Admission is 50p and there will be a tombola, raffle, and refreshments. For information contact Joanna on (01377) 217820.
PAWS IN WORK: Castle Howard, near Malton, will put its best paws forward on Tuesday, when it supports the national canine event Take Your Dog To Work Day in aid of the Blue Cross. Nine dogs have already been registered for the day, including the Howard's dogs Sandy, Bassey and Naomi. Anyone wishing to take part is asked to call (01993) 825502.
ROADWORKS: City of York Council is warning motorists about the closure of Peter Lane, York, from its junction with Market Street, in order to install an electrical cable. The work will commence at 8am on Monday, September 15, and should be finished by October 3.
