A BUSINESSMAN has launched a Yorkshire Roll of Honour to reward innovative ideas and achievements.
Paul Law has devised the scheme to honour the unsung heroes at four ceremonies throughout the year.
The winners' stories will also feature in a glossy magazine.
Enough people have already been nominated for the first awards night, which will be held at the Majestic Hotel, in Harrogate, on November 22.
"Response to the idea so far has been excellent," said Mr Law. "It is just what I had hoped for. Successful businesses need the support of hard-working individuals, key people on which the larger success depends.
"Unsung heroes can be nominated by firms to celebrate real achievements which benefit their companies, the region and UK economy as a whole.
"Many people spend a lifetime at work and then find themselves retired and soon forgotten. The efforts and innovations they bring into the workplace are also forgotten.
"However, if made known, their working practices and ideas could help others move forward. Now these people are to be recognised so their achievements do not just fade away.
"Each story will highlight the success of the company or business proposing the nominee and so will be a source of encouragement and motivation.''
Meanwhile, Mr Law - who is a council member in both Romanby and Northallerton - is also developing a link with the Yorkshire Tourist Board.
The ceremonies will include a meal as well as an opportunity for company representatives to mix and share their thoughts and ideas.
"But they will also be promoting those people who have been nominated and putting individuals or firms into the public eye," said Mr Law.
Those nominated for the awards will be expected to pay a fee to cover the cost of publishing the magazine and maintaining a website.
The ceremonies will be open to all.
Those chosen to feature on the Roll of Honour will be selected by Mr Law, his 35-year-old son, Richard, and two other local businessmen.
