Motorists are warned of roadworks taking place in South Shields this weekend.
Delays can be expected today at Beach Road, next to the Town Hall, from Fowler Street to Anderson Street roundabout, from 7am to 5pm, while the road surface is removed. On Sunday, the road will be closed to all traffic from 7am to 7pm, while it is resurfaced. Diversions will be in operation.

WILD FOOD: Rangers will be unlocking Mother Nature's larder for a day of wild food tomorrow. Staff at the Tyne Riverside Country Park, in Newburn, Newcastle, will be identifying edible plants, nuts and berries and teaching visitors how to make dishes such as nettle soup. Anyone interested should meet at the visitor centre at 2pm.
PAIN TALK: Sam Morrison will talk about the role of acupuncture in pain management when Campain, a group for people with chronic pain, meets on Wednesday, at 7pm, in County Hall, Durham.

TROLLY PARK: Durham City Council is being asked to grant planning permission for a covered trolley park to be built in the car park at the Somerfield supermarket, in Dragonville Court, Durham.

SKATE PARK: Work begins on Newcastle's £200,000 skate park on Tuesday. The city council project, at Exhibtion Park, is to combat a problem of youngsters skating in the city centre. Skaters and BMX riders were consulted on the design.
