ONE of the region's business landmarks has been rebranded.

Centre North East, Middlesbrough's tallest office building, has been subject to a £4m investment programme to provide its business community with the space, design, facilities and telecommunications services it needs.

Since 2000, almost 70,000sq ft of space has been let in the refurbished 18-storey glass-fronted building.

Tenants including Walkabout Inns and Garlands Call Centres have been attracted to the site, bringing hundreds of jobs to the town centre.

The Garlands deal is the largest single office letting in Middlesbrough in more than 20 years and comes at a time when there is a perceived slump in the call centre industry and competition from other parts of the world.

Atalina Wright, marketing manager for Centre North East, said: "Centre North East has come back to life in the last couple of years and is now a vibrant and lively business community.

"We decided that this was a good time to update the building's branding to reinforce our position as a modern and innovative location for business.

"The Rose lighting project has certainly helped to put Centre North East on the map and with our new signage we will be a highly visible presence right in the heart of Middlesbrough town centre."
