TOWERING leeks and giant parsnips were some of the home-grown talent on show at the Gala Theatre in Durham.
Durham's Annual Horticultural and Craft Show took centre stage on Friday and Saturday, when growers and gardeners displayed their finest vegetables and flowers.
There were also categories for exhibits of floral art, home-made wines, embroidery and baking, and art and craft competitions for children.
All the end of Durham City Council's show, at 5pm on Saturday, the exhibits were auctioned in aid of the Mayor of Durham's Appeal Fund.
Show secretary and Durham City council worker, Andrew Jackson, said: "The standard is excellent, it really is. We have had a lot of tourists popping in from abroad and other parts of the country and they were amazed by it.
"We've had 600 entries in 99 classes, ranging from kids of four-years-old to an 86-year-old."
