A CLUB for people with mobility problems will be able to improve with the help of a substantial grant.
Newton Aycliffe Mobility Club has gone from strength-to-strength since it was formed earlier this year.
It has provided a lifeline for members who would otherwise seldom leave their homes.
The club meets every fortnight in the Coffee Bean cafe, in the town's leisure centre. It also holds regular lunches at the Royal British Legion Club.
Now the club has received a boost from the County Durham Foundation, which has awarded a grant of £1,500 towards its work.
Publicity officer John Webster said: "The money will be used to improve the club and to help people get out and about more.
"We hope to give people with mobility problems the opportunity to get together with one another, but we can only do this if we have the funds.
"County Durham Foundation has generously given us this grant and they are looking to provide further funds, but we are always on the lookout for help and we are still hoping to attract new members."
