Tipping of waste can continue for another five years on a site between two villages north of Harrogate.
North Yorkshire County Council planning councillors gave the go-ahead for the extension at High Rails Farm landfill site, between Ripley and Killinghall, for High Rails Farmers.
The site is used to dispose of waste materials as well as crushing and screening for recycling.
Planning permission was originally granted for a temporary period of five years.
But councillors backed an extra five years following a recommendation from Mike Moore, the county's director of environmental services.
Applicants wanted to extend working hours to between 7.30am and 6pm Mondays to Saturdays.
But councillors approved working hours of 7.30am until 5.30pm Mondays to Fridays and 7.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays, with no work on Sundays or public holidays.
Councillors were told the site had not seen the high volume of waste it experienced in the early nineties.
Mr Moore said the High Rails site had the potential to play a valuable role in providing a suitable site for disposing of materials in the Harrogate area. He said the first two phases of the site had been satisfactorily restored and returned to agricultural use.
