AN athlete from Redcar is urging people to support his nominated charity by sponsoring him to take part in Sunday's Great North Run.
Terence Fahey, of Westfield Avenue, chose the Animal Care Trust, in memory of his pet Labrador/retriever cross, Honey, who died three months ago.
He wants people to log on to his dedicated website where donations will be sent directly to the Hertfordshire-based charity.
"All of the big charities have loads of people running for them, so it would be nice if people could think about the smaller ones as well," said Mr Fahey.
"I would like to raise as much for these as I possibly can."
It will be Mr Fahey's third Great North Run and he has been training for five months.
Twice a week he is a coach at the New Marske Harriers, 12 of whom will be running alongside him at the weekend.
The club is looking for new members and Mr Fahey wants to encourage youngsters to make the most of new equipment in the sports hall at Laurence Jackson School, in Church Lane, Guisborough.
